The "Rohama Baynahum" team, consisting of female volunteers from the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa in a partnership with different universities, and the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain A.S. This team demonstrated their commitment to providing essential first aid services to the underprivileged members of society during the world's largest annual mass gathering event in the city of Karbala. This event commemorates the Martyrdom of Hussain (Peace Be Upon Him) and His devoted companions, who valiantly fought for justice during challenging times against a tyrannical ruler.

Operating in small groups of 5-6 individuals, these dedicated female volunteers attended to various critical areas that demanded immediate attention in terms of first aid and emergency services. Multiple groups worked simultaneously, with subsequent batches seamlessly taking over, ensuring continuous coverage. This collaborative approach not only fostered valuable lessons in teamwork, emergency response, and empathy but also allowed these volunteers to assist and support those in need.

For a duration of ten days, these tireless female volunteers provided uninterrupted, round-the-clock first aid services near the Holy Grave of Imam Hussain A.S and His companions. The gathering comprised individuals from different countries, congregated in limited space. In addition to their first aid duties, these volunteers offered translation services to tourists who required medical assistance and directed them to nearby hospitals or dispensaries whenever necessary.

The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa took the initiative to provide comprehensive first-aid training to all the volunteers, students and staff from University of AlZahraa and several other places were also welcome to join same training, regardless of their backgrounds. This noble cause attracted participation from students and staff members from diverse faculties, extending beyond nursing and medical colleges. By offering their time and skills, these volunteers exemplified their dedication to serving individuals in need of assistance.

Maintaining a high standard of hygiene was a significant priority when delivering aid to pilgrims of various ages and needs, as it was imperative to ensure a germ-free and virus-free living environment. Stringent measures were implemented to mitigate potential health risks associated with the continuous mass gathering.

Through their unwavering commitment to providing first aid services, these remarkable female volunteers from the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa made a profound impact on the well-being of the community. In alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 3 - Good Health and Well-Being, and fostering partnerships in line with SDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals, a delegation from the Higher Health and University Education Authority, led by Professor Dr. Sattar Al-Saadi, initiated several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and partnerships.

 

These partnerships encompass various aspects, including:

1. Advancing the research domain.

2. Facilitating student exchange programs at undergraduate and specialized levels, including opportunities for pursuing master's and doctoral programs at renowned international institutions.

3. Organizing reciprocal visits for professors and academics from a group of medical colleges to the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa, AlZahraa University for Women, and a consortium of distinguished academic institutions.

4. Sharing curricula and academic content/Hosting in-person and online lectures and conferences, as well as international workshops

5. Conducting practical training programs in healthcare institutions abroad on an exchange basis.

Notable among these partners is the historic Saint George University in Beirut, Lebanon, along with its renowned medical center, founded in 1878. The direct affiliation of Saint George University with the Mayo Clinic in the United States allows us access to cutting-edge teaching programs in the field of medicine, utilizing the latest advancements in teaching methodologies.

Furthermore, an MoU for cooperation has been established with the Faculty of Medicine at the Lebanese University, which follows the Francophone academic system. This collaboration aims to enhance skills, adopt technology, introduce elements of research and innovation into the educational methodology, and create an environment focused on students' growth and excellence.

To enhance skills, leverage technology, and integrate research and innovation into the educational approach, discussions have also taken place with the American University of Beirut. These talks are centered around building a substantial database for research and associated data in the medical field.

In summary, these efforts reflect our commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 3 by promoting good health and well-being through advanced medical education and partnerships. Field Trip Promoting Good Health: Nursing Students' Outreach in Karbala

As part of their academic training and commitment to honing their skills, students from the College of Nursing from the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa embarked on a field trip to primary schools within the holy province of Karbala, Iraq. This endeavour aligns with the requirements of scientific training, aimed at equipping students with practical experience and exposing them to various medical conditions.

Under the guidance of the college's esteemed professors, this field trip was organized by the College of Nursing, specifically for students specializing in pediatric nursing. The visit was directed toward elementary schools in the sacred province of Karbala.

The primary objective of this visit was to conduct on-site assessments and early diagnosis of malnutrition and visual impairments among the students. This initiative exemplifies our dedication to Sustainable Development Goal 3 - Good Health and Well-Being.

By reaching out to the community and addressing health-related concerns at an early stage, our nursing students play a crucial role in promoting good health and well-being. This hands-on experience not only enriches their academic journey but also contributes to the overall health and well-being of the children in Karbala.
